About This Provider

Dr. Pacheco (pronounced Puh-Check-O”) is a board-certified colon & rectal surgeon and a board-certified general surgeon who focuses on the operative and non-operative treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. He was born and raised in Illinois and trained at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. He has over a decade of experience with advanced colorectal surgical techniques including robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery.

Dr. Pacheco has been involved in the teaching of general surgery residents and the colorectal surgery fellows at SIU since he started practicing.  He commonly treats cancers of the colon, rectal and anus. He has extensive experience in the treatment of diverticulitis of the colon.  Screening colonoscopy is a common procedure performed by Dr. Pacheco, and he is often referred patients with difficult to remove polyps.  Given the advances in technology, colonoscopy can be performed without pain or discomfort.   He has a special interest in infrared coagulation, a near painless technique for treating painful and bleeding internal hemorrhoids and commonly sees patients with anal fissure, anorectal abscesses/fistula, rectal prolapse and anogenital warts. He also offers surgical treatment for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease) when indicated.

Dr. Pacheco works closely with his staff to ensure they are offering the most up-to-date and evidence-based treatment.  His staff is composed of registered nurses, all with extensive hospital and office nursing experience.  They work tirelessly to ensure the most comfortable experience as possible during office visits.  Many patients express that the visit was more comfortable than they expected, and that they wish they had not waited so long to seek treatment and get relief from their ailments. Dr. Pacheco is accepting patients and has offices in Springfield, Taylorville and Litchfield.
