Dr. Gandam currently serves as the Chair of the Critical Care Medicine Department at Springfield Clinic. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery-Division of Emergency Medicine, where he actively supports the education of house staff. Dr. Gandam's dedication to teaching is further demonstrated through his role as a course instructor for Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He holds committee membership at Springfield Memorial Hospital for quality improvement and system processes. He has completed several certification courses, including FCCS, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Dr. Gandam's commitment to patient-centered care is evident in his approach, as he prioritizes building trusting relationships with his patients by actively listening and ensuring they feel understood. He remains proactive in his professional development, actively engaging in continuing education programs to stay abreast of the latest advancements in medicine and further enhance his knowledge and skills.
As an intensivist, Dr. Gandam specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening conditions that represent the most severe end of human disease. With a deep understanding of the complexities of critical care, he combines the latest evidence-based medical practices with a patient-centered approach to develop individualized management plans. Dr. Gandam devotes a significant portion of his time to working in the intensive care unit (ICU), where the care of critically ill patients begins. He is experienced in handling complex medical cases, employing advanced techniques and technologies to provide the highest level of care. Recognizing the growing number of patients surviving an ICU admission, Dr. Gandam also recognizes the importance of post-ICU care. He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless transition from the ICU to the appropriate post-ICU setting, ensuring continuity of care and promoting the best possible outcomes for his patients.
