Krishna Akella, DO, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Cardiology Department as a Cardiac Electrophysiologist.
Dr. Akella earned his medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Iowa. He completed his residency at Stony Brook Southhampton Hospital in Southhampton, N.Y. Dr. Akella also completed a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at Honorhealth in Scottsdale, Ariz., and a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Dr. Akella enjoys his practice and addressing a wide breadth of cardiac conditions. "We do a lot of chronic disease management in cardiology," he says. "But electrophysiology is unique in that it allows us to have the opportunity to cure a patient's disease or significantly improve their overall course of disease."
Dr. Akella's scope of practice includes device implantation, for example pacemakers and defibrillators, as well as ablations. "Most importantly, I want patients to know they are going to have a physician who is going to meet them in their journey with compassion and expertise," he says.
In his free time, Dr. Akella enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hiking and practicing yoga.
