Nicholas Decker, MD, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Radiology team.

Dr. Decker earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) before earning his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He then completed his internship year at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, followed by his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

From a young age, Dr. Decker was drawn to science and medicine and knew he wanted a career centered on helping others. His experience working as an emergency department medical scribe in Springfield after college reinforced that calling for him. As a radiologist, he believes that strong partnerships between radiologists and referring providers lead to the best possible patient care. "I am passionate about being an accessible and collaborative radiologist, creating meaningful reports that positively impact patient care," he says. "I enjoy discussing cases with referring providers and working together to make sure patients receive the most accurate diagnosis and appropriate care."

Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active and is an avid fan of racket sports, including badminton, pickleball, table tennis and tennis, which he played collegiately at UIS. He also enjoys following Chicago sports, playing chess and spending time with his wife.
