Elena Winters, APRN, CNP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner on Springfield Clinic’s Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine team.
“The biggest reason why I chose a career in health care was to help others in need,” Elena says. “I chose pulmonary diseases because I enjoy the complexity that comes with treating patients with different lung diseases.”
Elena is most passionate about helping her patients understand their health conditions and improving their quality of life by empowering them to advocate for themselves in their personal health care journeys.
She chose Springfield Clinic because it is known for providing the highest quality health care in central Illinois. She wants to continue that leadership by providing education to the community on important health topics, such as sleep apnea. In addition, Elena is available for Spanish-speaking patients as well.
Elena completed both her graduate and undergraduate degrees at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Elena worked at Springfield Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse for five years.
In her free time, Elena enjoys running and it is something she has done for years. She feels that it is a good way to destress.
