Douglas Onuscheck, MD, provides care with the Springfield Clinic’s Radiologist Services Department.

Dr. Onuscheck earned his Bachelor of Science in preprofessional studies from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind. He then earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk and completed his internship year there. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and served as an imaging research fellow at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, focusing on MRI-based radiomics research.

Drawn to medicine by a lifelong interest in science and a desire to serve others, Dr. Onuscheck found a career that combined both passions. "I've always had an interest in science and wanted to find a way to use that interest to help others," he says.

Dr. Onuscheck and his wife chose to make Springfield their home when she joined SIU as a head and neck oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgeon. Outside of work, Dr. Onuscheck enjoys golfing, watching sports, traveling and exploring new restaurants with his wife. The couple also enjoys spending time with their daughter, who keeps them busy and brings joy to their home.
