Brock Thornton, APRN, DNP, CRNA, will be joining the Springfield Clinic Anesthesiology team on March 16, 2026. He will be providing care at our Springfield Clinic Surgery Center in Main Campus East.

Brock earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and his Bachelor of Nursing degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
 

Brock points to his mom's experience as a nurse, most recently with Springfield Clinic's Cancer Center, as his influence to starting a career in health care. "She has been a mentor and great resource through my nursing studies," he says.

His interest in anesthesia care grew out of his time as a cardiac surgery registered nurse recovering open heart surgery patients. "Caring for high acuity patients, titrating medications and communicating with other medical specialties was highly appealing," he says."

In his free time, Brock enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons as well as friends, golfing, hiking, traveling and watching baseball, football and hockey.
