As of March 21, 2023, masking is optional at all Springfield Clinic locations.

Even though masking will be optional in general, there will still be instances in which masking will be required.

Patients will be required to mask when:

  • They have suspected or confirmed COVID-19 or other respiratory infection (e.g., runny nose, cough, sneezing, congestion, etc.)

  • They have tested positive and are within their 10-day period after symptom onset or testing positive, if asymptomatic

  • They are within their 10-day post-exposure period

Providers and staff will be required to mask when:

  • Caring for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 or other respiratory infection

  • They have tested positive and are within their 10-day period after symptom onset or testing positive, if asymptomatic

  • They are within their 10-day post-exposure period

Protocols related to masking requirements after exposure or testing positive remain in place.

Patients, providers and staff may choose to continue to mask based on personal preference and their potential for developing severe disease. Also, providers and staff must mask if the patient requests for masks to be worn during their visit.
