We are excited to announce that our Ambulatory Surgery Center Catheterization Lab/Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Services in Springfield are the first in Illinois to receive accreditation through Corazon, a national leader in cardiovascular services based in Pittsburgh, Penn. Our staff were put through a rigorous process, and the resulting accreditation proves that our Cath Lab has met or exceeded Corazon Accreditation Standards for Cath Lab/PCI services within ambulatory surgery centers, has proven adherence to national social guidelines and is compliant with our local health department. Through our accreditation survey, our Cath Lab team has demonstrated that they are committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients. We want to recognize the hard work and dedication of our entire Cath Lab team, including the exceptional physician and operational leadership who collaborate to engage their teams every day and keep our patients and their quality experience at the forefront.

As an accrediting agency, Corazon helps to ensure life-saving services are provided in communities across the state. Corazon has partnered with more than 700 hospitals nationally to evaluate, re-engineer or implement best-practice PCI programs through their consulting and recruitment efforts. Corazon is a long-time champion for PCI without on-site open-heart surgery (OHS) and notably assisted with the opening of the first PCI program of this type in Pennsylvania. Additionally, Corazon was instrumental in building a consortium of hospitals to drive the legislative changes in Pennsylvania which have expanded access to interventional cardiology services across the state. Corazon is also a verifier for PCI programs in the state of Georgia and is a state-named accrediting body in the states of Michigan and Illinois.
