Yuan Chen, APRN, DNP, CNP, is joining our Critical Care Medicine Department and collaborates with Krishna Aparanji, MD, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

"Both my grandfather and father were in the health care field. My grandfather operated two health care clinics and a huge hospital in Taiwan, and my father had his own clinic in Guam. I was inspired by them, so I followed in their footsteps to start a career in health care," Chen says.

Yuan completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., and her undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. She has more than thirteen years of nursing experience, most recently with Hospital Sisters Health System at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Ill.

In her free time, Yuan likes to exercise and take hikes in unique places. Every year, she searches for fun, challenging terrains and beautiful views to explore, citing that it helps her disconnect from the demands of everyday life and improve her emotional well-being.
