Idelle Woodson, MD, MPH, is joining Springfield Clinic’s Internal Medicine team in August.
Dr. Woodson knew from a young age that she wanted to be a doctor. “I remember telling my grandma when I was eight that I was going to be her doctor and take care of her,” she says. After her undergraduate work, she received her Master of Public Health from University at Albany – State University of New York. She then completed her medical degree and her residency in internal medicine at SIU School of Medicine. Before coming to Springfield Clinic, Dr. Woodson worked for the SSM Health Medical Group in St. Charles, Mo. Through doctoring, Dr. Woodson gets to do everything she loves: caring for people, teaching and studying the sciences.
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Woodson says her background in public health lends a different perspective to her practice. “Helping patients understand their health and educating them to be their own health advocate is very important to me,” she says. She chose internal medicine as her specialty because she believes working with adults through sometimes complex medical issues allows her to become a real partner in their health care.
The internists with Springfield Clinic focus on preventive health, including age- and gender-appropriate screenings to detect diseases and conditions. Our team treats adult illnesses and helps you manage the complexities of chronic conditions. Dr. Woodson will be located at Springfield Clinic Main Campus East at 1025 South Sixth Street in Springfield, on the 3rd floor.
