Erin Whalen, AuD, is joining the Springfield Clinic Audiology team this month.
Erin became interested in audiology while pursuing her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders. “My grandfather has profound hearing loss,” she says. “Because I grew up observing his struggle to remain socially involved, I know how isolating and frustrating hearing loss is for individuals and their families.” She received her graduate degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo., and has worked in the audiology field for nearly four years.
Board certified in audiology, Erin specializes in the identification, diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders, as well as counseling patients on hearing loss prevention. She is looking forward to being a part of the Springfield Clinic team because the Audiology Department offers her expanded access to diagnostic testing, vestibular assessment and selection and fitting of the latest hearing aid technology.
Erin’s favorite part about being an audiologist is helping people improve their hearing ability. “Seeing the positive impact that improved hearing has on individuals I treat and their families is very rewarding,” she says. She will also provide care at Springfield Clinic Jacksonville as part of Audiology’s outreach services.
Springfield Clinic’s Audiology Department believes that hearing is essential to quality of life, which is why they carefully evaluate and treat each patient to help them reach an optimal level of hearing. Learn more about Erin and the Audiology team at www.SpringfieldClinic.com/Audiology.
