Learning objectives:

At the completion of this lecture, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the significance of hip imbalances in the prevention of knee injuries
    and knee pain
  • Identify the common causes of hip pain in the adolescent and recognize atypical presentations of hip pain
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction and describe the relationship between the lumbopelvic, hip and pelvic floor complexes
  • Identify the root causes of lumbar spine pain to distinguish between bone, nerve and muscle causes
  • Differentiate the diagnosis and treatment of posterior hip pathology from
    lumbar spine pathology
  • Identify low back pain patients appropriate for interventional pain management procedures
  • Describe the indications and limitations with ultrasound guided injections of the hip
  • Identify the four core slings along with muscles, treatment and example exercises
