Prompt Care

Fast, Convenient, Walk-in Medical Clinic — that's Springfield Clinic Prompt Care.

Springfield Clinic's Prompt Care is open 365 days a year and offers no hassle, walk-in medical care--provided by board certified family medicine specialists--for those untimely common illnesses and minor injuries that require a doctor's attention, but may not be acute enough for a visit to the hospital emergency room. Our four locations are fully equipped with  necessary diagnostic services, including onsite lab and X-ray at each facility.

Why Prompt Care?

For most patients, Prompt Care saves time and money. A visit to Prompt Care is considered an office visit by most insurance companies and a patient's out of pocket expense, or co-pay, is considerably less than a trip to the ER.

Our experienced team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses has the skills and experience to diagnose and treat your illness or injury quickly and provide appropriate treatment. In acute cases when a trip to the hospital is advised, or where follow up is necessary by the patient's regular doctor, the physicians and staff at Prompt Care will help coordinate the transfer of medical information and care.

Should I go to Prompt Care or the ER?

Certain medical conditions should always be treated in the emergency room. If you think you are having a stroke or a heart attack, you should call 911 immediately

Signs of a heart attack or stroke include:

  • Chest pain or heaviness
    • Possibly with: heart racing/fluttering, shortness of breath, nausea, arm/jaw pain, severe indigestion
  • Numbness or weakness in part of body or face
    • Possibly with slurred speech, dizziness, confusion

Conditions NOT TREATED in Prompt Care include:

  • Dehydration
  • Miscarriage
  • Seizures
  • Depression/anxiety
  • Infants less than two months old with fever greater than 101˚
  • Children with burns on their palms or feet
  • Violent assault
  • Post-operative complications
  • Pregnancy complications
  • Elevated Blood Pressure

These conditions require a higher level of care and should be seen in the emergency room.

We understand that it may be difficult to determine where the most appropriate place for care may be for your specific symptoms. If you are unsure, contact your physician’s office or TeleNurse for additional guidance.
