Kiosk

Springfield Clinic Patient Kiosk

On the technology front, new patient self-check kiosks are now available as an alternative to the traditional registration process in nearly all Springfield Clinic offices. Patients can utilize the kiosk to change personal information, verify insurance coverage and make a co-payment. Of course, reception staff members are still on hand and will be happy to assist patients upon their arrival.

What is the Kiosk?
The Patient Kiosk is a biometric authentication device that is more accurate and faster than a fingerprint. The Patient Kiosk allows the patient to check into a healthcare organization and update their records much more quickly than the traditional methods available.

Why use the Kiosk?
Patients can view a current appointment, verify demographic information, make a co-payment, and “arrive” for their appointment without standing in line or verbally updating their information at the reception desk. Enrolling with a palm scan also registers your unique identification within the Clinic system.

It's Award Winning
Project Innovation 2010The new Patient Kiosks were named the winner of Project Innovation, a county medical technology competition, at an event held June 9 at Lincoln Land Community College’s Capital City Training Center.

Jardogs, wholly owned subsidiary of Springfield Clinic, was awarded $15,000 for the kiosks they developed with Allscripts and Fujitsu. These kiosks, available for use at many Springfield Clinic locations, use a biometric authentication device to authenticate patient identity. Once in the system, patients can check-in, pay co-pays and update their information on their own without stopping at reception.

Jardogs was one of five finalists from fifteen total entries. When asked what they intend to do with the prize money, Director of Business Development, Kate Palazzolo, says “We will continue to pull talent from and attract new talent to the Sangamon County job market as we succeed, all of which positively contributes to the local economy. We plan to reinvest the prize money in the company in order to support and further enhance our self-service patient kiosk as well as additional solutions that we are developing.”
