Who is a candidate for Facial Implants? Anyone who seeks to augment, reconstruct or rejuvenate the chin, jaw, nose and cheek. Implants add or restore contour and/or proportion to the face. Springfield, IL plastic surgeons Dr. Bergman, Dr. Brown, and Dr. Sinha are experienced performing facial implants.
Intended results: A more proportional and better contoured face.
Procedure description:
- The facial implant operation is done on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia or MAC (Monitored Anesthesia Care).
- The surgeon makes a small incision near where the implant will be placed, either in a crease or inside the mouth at the gum/lip junction
- A pocket is made in the facial tissue, the implant inserted, and the incision is stitched.
Recuperation and healing: The patient may return to work and other normal activity within a week. Results are essentially permanent.
Other options: Additional procedures that would enhance the result of a facial implants are facelift, nose procedures and eyelid procedures.
