Ultrasound ServicesUltrasound

Springfield Clinic ultrasound services are accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), an association dedicated to promoting the safe and effective use of ultrasound.

Accreditation means our practice has met nationally accepted standards and has demonstrated consistent excellence in patient care. Actual cases and reports have been reviewed by the AIUM and show that both the performance and the interpretation of ultrasound examinations offered by physicians and meet or exceed nationally accepted standards.

Our team of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers has many years of experience in the areas of Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound. They have all achieved a level of competency in both technical procedures and patient care. Both the physicians and sonographers in the practice receive continuing medical education in ultrasound to enhance their knowledge and keep their skills current. Effectively and safely meeting the growing needs of our patients is our number one priority.

Laboratory ServicesLab

Springfield Clinic has a full service CLIA accredited laboratory. The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the United States through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

The lab is open during regular business hours for the convenience of our patients and to aid the physicians in the most accurate and timely diagnosis of our patients.

Please call the office to schedule lab draws if you do not have a visit on the same day.

Bone Density ScreeningsBone Density

Bone Density Screenings are also offered at Springfield Clinic to determine your risk of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a health threat for 25 million Americans, 80% of whom are women. The highly sensitive densitometer identifies bone loss at the major fracture sites. Our Routine Dexa scan is quick and painless and includes scans of the hips and spine. The exam is performed by a Certified Densitometry Technologist. This exam will enable your physician to access whether you are at risk for fracture. If you are found to be at risk, treatment options are available.

Risk Factors for Osteoporosis:

  • small, thin frame
  • family history of osteoporosis
  • female
  • avoidance of dairy foods
  • Asian or Caucasian ancestry
  • excessive alcohol intake
  • never taken estrogen
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • early menopause
  • low vitamin D intake
  • smoker
  • excessive caffeine intake

Mammography

Joining Springfield Clinic has allowed us to now offer onsite digital mammography services. Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

Our newly remodeled mammography suite features equipment that provides:

  • State-of-the-art digital images for more accurate diagnoses
  • Shorter exam times & faster results for increased patient comfort
  • Lowest mammography radiation dose in the Springfield area
