These board-certified physicians fall into two areas: Hospitalists and Critical Care Medicine specialists, or Intensivists.
A Hospitalist is a physician - often a specialist in internal medicine, family medicine or pediatrics - who cares for hospitalized patients, in collaboration and constant contact with the patient's primary care physician. A Critical Care Medicine specialist treats patients admitted to the hospital with acute, potentially life-threatening conditions.
However you are admitted to the hospital, Springfield Clinic has a specialist dedicated to you and your care.
