What should I expect after the procedure?
The following symptoms are normal after CK, and will subside with time:
- Mild to moderate burning, watering and irritation for 2 to 3 days.
- "Smeary vision", like dirty glasses for about 1 month.
- Glare or halos, especially when driving at night for about 1 month.
- Slight over correction of your vision for a few weeks. Distant objects may appear blurry, but near objects will be clearer.
- Expect your vision to "stabilize" in approximately 1 to 3 months.
When can I return to my normal activities?
Most patients feel well enough to work and/or drive after 1 or 2 days.
- Avoid eye makeup for 3 to 4 days after the procedure. + Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools for 1 week.
- Avoid swimming in lakes, rivers, streams, oceans, hot tubs, or saunas for 4 weeks. You may take a shower with your eyes shut.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes.
- Wear eye protection for contact sports, chopping wood, etc.
What medications should I take after the procedure?
You may take Tylenol or Advil (Ibuprofen) for discomfort.
Any redness or irritation will gradually subside after you begin the eye drops. If you notice increasing redness, pain, pus or blurred vision, call our office immediately.
