Pelvic Floor Lab - Colon & Rectal

For those who suffer with defecation disorders, simple trips to the store or social interaction can be an anxious or embarrassing experience. In extreme cases, those with either extremely loose stools or severe constipation experience pain, humiliation and fear.

Fortunately, new therapies are available which help patients retrain pelvic floor muscles and regain normal control of defecation. These techniques, known as bio-feedback therapy, are administered by specially trained staff at Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal Department and medically supervised by the physicians and surgeons of that group. In addition to bio-feedback therapy, patients may be offered dietary or surgical solutions to help alleviate their symptoms. For more information, contact the Colon & Rectal Surgery Department.

The staff of Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal Pelvic Floor lab offer comfort and care to individuals suffering with pelvic floor dysfunction. Our registered nurse, specially trained in bio-feedback therapy, collaborates with Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal specialists to provide personal, private and compassionate treatment for disorders of the pelvic floor, including constipation and fecal incontinence, or loose stools. Referrals to Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal Pelvic Floor Lab are made following a thorough examination by our team of specialists.

The Pelvic Floor Lab is located within the medical offices of Springfield Clinic's Colon & Rectal Surgery Department on the 4th Floor at Springfield Clinic 1st, 800 North 1st Street in Springfield, Illinois. Our facilities are private, comfortable and easy to access.
