As a Department, they have helped develop a weekly Colon and Rectal Surgery Conference to provide continuing education and guidance to residents and fellows at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, as well as to share information among their peers to provide better patient care. The Colon and Rectal Surgery Department is also closely involved in the SIU School of Medicine Fellowship program.
