BOARD CHAIRMAN
Michael A. Pick, MD
Rheumatology
Michael A. Pick, MD is a board-certified specialist in Rheumatology. A native of Chicago, he completed his medical degree and residency at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, prior to a Rheumatology Fellowship at the USC School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He joined Springfield Clinic in 1985. He was elected to serve as the board's chairman for its 2012-2013 term.
In December, 2010, Dr. Pick was chosen from among the many well-trained and talented doctors at Springfield Clinic to receive the prestigious A. Raymond Eveloff Award for Clinical Excellence. The award recognizes the recipient for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the health and well-being of patients and to continually strive for excellence in the delivery of health care.
In addition to his seat on the Board of Directors, Dr. Pick chairs the Quality Management & Peer Review Committee and serves on the Executive and Service Improvement Committees.
Dr. Pick is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the American Medical Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Sangamon County Medical Society and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.

Bryan J. Albracht, DO
Family Medicine
Dr. Albracht, a native of Texas, earned his medical degree from the Texas College for Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth.
He joined Springfield Clinic's Family Medicine department, his specialty at Springfield Clinic Wabash, in 1996. Albracht is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, performing comprehensive evaluation and treatment in Family Practice for the entire family with a special interest in pediatric and newborn care.
Dr. Albracht chairs the Managed Care Committee and serves on the Building Committe, in addition to his seat on the Board of Directors. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Sangamon County Medical Society and the Illinois State Medical Society.
Geoffrey A. Bland, MD
Family Medicine
Born in Rochford, England, Bland earned a medical degree and completed his residency at Dalhousie University School of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is certified in Family Medicine by The College of Family Physicians of Canada.
He started a private medical practice in Springfield in 1980; over the next several years this developed into a four person group, at which time he founded the Wabash Family Practice Center. In 1985 his original group merged with Springfield Clinic. He provides comprehensive medical care for family members of all ages.
Bland serves as chairman of both the Business Development and Marketing Committee and the Service Improvement Committee, and is currently serving in his 6th term on Springfield Clinic’s Board of Directors.
James K. Fullerton, MD
General Surgery
James K. Fullerton, MD is a board-certified general surgeon, with special interests in laparoscopic surgery, surgical endoscopy and ERCP. A native of Janesville, Wisconsin, Dr. Fullerton attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he received his medical degree. He was named Chief Resident in 2004 during the completion of his General Surgery residency at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield.
Immediately following, Dr. Fullerton joined Springfield Clinic’s Department of General Surgery and practiced briefly until his acceptance at University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. During his leave of absence, Dr. Fullerton completed an Endoscopy and Interventional ERCP Fellowship, and returned to practice in the Clinic’s Department of General Surgery in 2006.
Dr. Fullerton was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009, and currently serves on the Executive Committee, chairs the Finance Committee and the Investment Sub-Committee, and serves as Department Chairman for Springfield Clinic’s General Surgery Department . His memberships include the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), as well as the Sangamon County Medical Society and Illinois State Medical Society.
Philip Garcia, MD
Otolaryngology/ENT
Philip Garcia, MD, was born in Detroit and attended medical school at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor. Dr. Garcia then completed his residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he served as Chief Resident.
Board certified in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Garcia specializes in thyroid and parathyroid disorders, as well as pediatric otolaryngology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the American Board of Otolaryngology, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Sangamon County Medical Society. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at SIU School of Medicine.
Dr. Garcia joined Springfield Clinic in 1993. In addition to service on the Board of Directors, he serves on the Finance Committee, the Investment Sub-Committee and the Clinical Informatics Committee.
Mark D. Greatting, MD
Orthopedic Group
Born in Bellville, IL, Mark D. Greatting, MD, is a board-certified specialist in both Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery. He completed his medical degree and residency at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, prior to a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. He joined Springfield Clinic in 1995.
In addition to his seat on the Board of Directors, Dr. Greatting serves on the Quality Management & Peer Review Committee.
Dr. Greatting is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Illinois Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Sangamon County Medical Society and he serves as a Clinical Associate Professor for SIU School of Medicine.
Mark Kuhnke, MD
General Surgery
Dr. Kuhnke, a native of Johnston City, Illinois, attended medical school at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. He served his internship and residency at SIU affiliated hospitals in Springfield serving as Chief Resident in 1985-1986. During his residency, Dr. Kuhnke was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. He launched his surgical career in 1986, an active private surgical practice until the 2004 merger with Springfield Clinic. His special interests include laparoscopic and cancer surgery.
He is a board certified general surgeon and a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He previously served as the president of the Illinois Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. His current memberships include the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons, the Midwest Surgical Society, the Illinois Surgical Society, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Sangamon County Medical Society. Dr. Kuhnke is also an Associate Clinical Professor at SIU School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery. He serves as the vice-chairman of the Memorial Medical Center Department of Surgery and is a past-chairman of the St. John’s Hospital Department of Surgery.
Currently, Dr. Kuhnke serves as the Chairman of the Information Technology Committee, in addition to his role on the Board of Directors.
Kenneth R. Sagins, MD
Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
Kenneth Sagins, MD was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine here in Springfield, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics.
Dr. Sagins is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Board of Physician Executives, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Physicians and the Illinois State Medical Society.
Dr. Sagins joined Springfield Clinic in 1997. In addition to service on the Board of Directors, which he lead as Board Chairman in 2010 and 2011, he leads the Research Committee as chairman and serves on the Operations Committee.
