Jacksonville, Illinois - January 25, 2012 - Officials from Memorial Health System, Springfield Clinic, and Passavant Area Hospital are
participating in a Groundbreaking Ceremony for a new medical office building on the Passavant campus on Tuesday,
January 31, at 1 p.m. The ceremony takes place in Passavant’s east parking lot, followed immediately by remarks from
representatives in Meeting Rooms 2 and 3.
“This project is about our patients and our community. It’s about convenience and service so our patients don’t have
to travel out of town for their healthcare,” said Chester A. Wynn, Passavant’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
The 70,700 square foot structure will house physician offices for both Memorial Physician Services and Springfield Clinic
physicians. Over 50 physicians, surgeons, and mid-level providers representing family medicine, internal medicine,
general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, pediatrics, urology, cardiology, and allergy/asthma/pulmonology will be in the
facility.
Construction of the two-story building, immediately northeast of the Passavant campus, is expected to start in mid-
February. Memorial is constructing the facility. Work areas for imaging and laboratory services are also included. The
medical office building will be connected to Passavant by an indoor walkway. The project is expected to be complete by
October 2013.
BSA Life Structures of St. Louis is the architect. Harold O’Shea Builders of Springfield is the general contractor. Estimated
cost of the project is $27.6 million.
“Memorial Health System is very pleased to join with Passavant Area Hospital and Springfield Clinic in the construction
of this medical office building to serve the healthcare needs of Jacksonville and the greater Morgan County region,”
said Ed Curtis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Health System. “This project completely aligns with
our mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve.”
Randy Bryant, Springfield Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer, added, “For more than a decade, Springfield Clinic has been a
proud partner in the Jacksonville medical community, and our commitment to the delivery of high quality health care
to the region has never been stronger.”
